The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appealed to Ghanaian business leaders and entrepreneurs to offer employment opportunities to citizens being evacuated from South Africa as part of efforts to support their reintegration.
In a statement on its Facebook page, June 1, 2026 the Ministry invited Chief Executive Officers and business owners interested in employing returning Ghanaians to contact its Delivery Unit, which is coordinating the initiative.
The unit, led by Alexander Grant Ntrakwa, has been tasked with connecting returnees to job opportunities and helping them rebuild their lives upon arrival in Ghana.
According to the ministry, 120 job opportunities have already been secured through the support of Ghanaian entrepreneurs and business owners.
So far, we have secured 120 job opportunities from patriotic Ghanaian business owners. Be part of this noble project, the Ministry stated.
The appeal forms part of broader efforts by government to provide economic opportunities and social support for Ghanaians returning from South Africa.
The ministry emphasized that the welfare of Ghanaian citizens remains a priority and encouraged more businesses to participate in the initiative.
We value and cherish all our citizens, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the High Commission of Ghana in South Africa has suspended the registration of evacuation of Ghanaians in South Africa.
The High Commission explained that, “The temporary suspension is to enable the High Commission and the Home Affairs process and screen the large number of applications already received.
The High Commission disclosed that to date, over 1,500 Ghanaians have registered, and the verification and processing of these applications is currently underway.
297 Ghanaians have already being evacuated to Ghana with 600 more expected in the coming days.
