The Member of Parliament for Nalerigu/Gambaga Constituency, Mumuni Muhammed Nurideen, has cut sod for the construction of a new health centre at Nagboo in the North East Region.

The facility will feature an Out-Patient Department, Male Ward, Female Ward, two Consulting Rooms, and other modern amenities. This marks the MP’s fourth sod-cutting in the health sector since assuming office.

Hon. Nurideen also inspected ongoing works at the Nalerigu Health Centre and the 70-bed male and female wards at the Gambaga Polyclinic. All projects are at various stages of completion.

Addressing community members, the MP said the 5% District Assembly Common Fund allocation is inadequate, stating it “cannot complete even two of the projects.” He disclosed that 60% of the funding is from his personal resources. The MP expects all projects to be completed and operational within 12 calendar months.

The Chief of Nagboo thanked the MP on behalf of his people and prayed for “more life and another term” for him. He praised the timing of the project:

Doing the project at this time when elections are still far away shows that you’re not doing it for political gains but out of care for the people. We are grateful.

Residents also welcomed the project. Nabila, a mother and BP patient who travels to Baptist Medical Center in Nalerigu for care, said:

When it happens in the night, they have to rush you to BMC. This hospital will now be able to take care of that and save us from that suffering.

The MP announced plans to spend a month in the constituency to continue his development agenda, stressing: _“Your party not being in government as an MP is not a barrier to development.”

As part of his developmental agenda in the constituency, the MP launch “Water for All” initiative where he intend to drill 100 boreholes in the constituents in his first tenure as MP
