Nalerigu, May 9, 2026 — The North East Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia, has reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming the region through accelerated development initiatives. Speaking at the Regional Accountability Series held at the Regional Coordinating Council in Nalerigu, Minister Tia provided a comprehensive overview of the achievements, ongoing projects, and strategic interventions carried out over the past 16 months.

The forum, which brought together key stakeholders including MMDCEs, traditional leaders, department heads, and community representatives, focused on vital sectors such as infrastructure, education, agriculture, water, health, and security. Minister Tia highlighted significant strides made in improving living standards across all districts, emphasizing that transparency and community engagement remain central to government efforts.
Our government remains dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all citizens through sustained investments in infrastructure and social services, Tia stated.
He assured residents that additional projects are on the horizon to bolster economic growth, reinforce security, and promote regional prosperity.
Addressing security concerns, the Minister issued a stern warning against the irresponsible use of social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook, citing their role in inciting violence and complicating peace efforts in the region. He reaffirmed that measures are in place to maintain sustainable peace and stability.

The Accountability Series, an initiative rooted in the Mahama-era transparency agenda, aims to foster direct communication between government officials and the public. Tia urged local government leaders to emulate this approach by holding similar accountability dialogues within their respective districts, ensuring citizens are kept informed of progress and development efforts.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to openness and accountability, reinforcing its pledge to deliver tangible improvements and foster trust within the communities of the North East Region.
