The Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives Ghana (UPNMG) has opened a new Mart and Loan Office at Guunayili, expanding access to household appliances and financial support services for residents in the area.

The new branch, which was launched on Thursday, 14 May 2026, offers a variety of home electrical appliances, including deep freezers, microwaves, washing machines, rice cookers, blenders, tabletop fridges, air conditioners and flat-screen televisions of different sizes.

Officials of the mart said the initiative was originally created to serve government workers and other public sector employees. However, they explained that the decision to expand the service came after it became clear that many other people outside the public sector also needed affordable appliances and financial assistance.

The office also provides loans for business start-ups and business expansion, giving individuals the opportunity to access funding to begin new ventures or strengthen existing ones.

Customers who may not be able to pay the full cost of appliances at once have also been given the option of buying on a part-payment basis until the full amount is settled.

Traditional leaders, elders and community members welcomed the launch, expressing delight that the facility had been brought to Guunayili. They encouraged the public to make use of the services offered by the mart and loan office.

The launch ceremony was attended by residents and invited guests who gathered to witness the official opening.
