The Youth Employment Agency has made significant strides in addressing youth unemployment in the North East Region, securing over 3,400 jobs for young people since 2025, according to the regional minister.

In a recent address at the accountability forum in Nalerigu, the regional minister emphasized the impact of these initiatives, stating,

Since 2025, we have successfully placed 3,421 young individuals into various sectors through targeted programs designed to reduce unemployment and foster economic empowerment.

The placements, which span multiple industries, are part of a comprehensive strategy to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth. Officials assert that these interventions not only provide immediate income but also equip beneficiaries with vital skills for long-term economic stability.

The minister further noted that the rollout of the program is ongoing, with plans to expand into additional sectors, thereby increasing employment opportunities for more youth across the region.

Our efforts continue to empower the youth economically, laying the foundation for a resilient and prosperous North East, he added.

Despite these achievements, regional authorities remain under pressure to address the persistent challenge of youth unemployment. The government remains committed to scaling up employment initiatives and ensuring that young people have access to meaningful opportunities for growth and development.

As the program advances, stakeholders hope these efforts will serve as a catalyst for broader economic development in the North East, ultimately transforming the region’s youth into drivers of sustainable progress.
