Nalerigu/Gambaga MP Criticizes Colleagues for Neglecting Duties and Blaming Party in Power After Elections

The Member of Parliament for Nalerigu/Gambaga Constituency, Hon. Mumuni Muhammed Nurudeen, has issued a strong critique of colleagues who neglect their parliamentary responsibilities by blaming their party for inaction.

He described such behavior as “pure deception” and accused some MPs of taking voters for granted.Hon. Nurudeen emphasized that once elected, an MP’s primary duty is to serve their constituents regardless of party affiliation or whether their party is in government.

He warned that using party politics as an excuse for inaction undermines public trust and betrays the mandate voters have entrusted to them.Reflecting on his own experience, the MP explained that after winning the 2024 elections while Dr. Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, did not win, he felt a sense of worry.

Despite this, he decided to do his best to lobby for development in his area to prove to his constituents that their trust in him was not misplaced.

When I won and Dr. Bawumia did not, it was more than two weeks of discomfort. That’s why I am working hard for my people—to show that even if I am no longer the MP, a young person like me can step up and serve. Because we can do the work, he said.

Hon. Nurudeen made these remarks during a sod-cutting ceremony for a new health center in Nagboo, highlighting ongoing development projects in the constituency despite the national political climate. His comments serve as a call for accountability and consistent service to constituents across party lines.
