Radio Tamale has marked its 10th anniversary celebrations with a free health screening exercise for residents of Lamashegu and nearby communities in Tamale.

The event, held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Lamashegu Chief’s Palace, was organised by the station’s management team and officials as part of its anniversary activities. The initiative was aimed at promoting good health and providing support to community members through free medical services.

More than 200 people, including men and women, benefited from the exercise. The services offered included blood pressure checks, eye screening, breast and cervical cancer examinations and blood donation. Free medication was also given to beneficiaries after the screenings.

Health professionals at the event used the opportunity to educate residents on the importance of regular medical check-ups, early detection and personal protection against infections, particularly breast cancer.

The Chief of Lamashegu, Alhaji Iddirisu Mohammed, attended the event and also underwent screening. He commended Radio Tamale for the initiative and praised the station for its continued support to the well-being of the community.

Residents described the programme as timely and helpful, expressing appreciation for the free services. Many turned out in large numbers to take advantage of the screening exercise.
