Residents of Tamale turned out in large numbers on Saturday as Radio Tamale celebrated its 10th anniversary with a colourful float procession that brought music, dancing and traditional drumming to the streets.

The event attracted both young and old, many of whom lined the routes to join the festivities and celebrate the station’s decade of broadcasting. The float created a lively atmosphere across the township, underscoring the strong connection between the radio station and its listeners.

One touching moment came when a visually impaired man, supported by his son, joined the celebration wearing a branded anniversary shirt. For many residents, the scene symbolised the station’s broad reach and its impact on people from all walks of life.

Several residents praised the celebration, describing it as entertaining and memorable. They also commended Radio Tamale for using its platform to promote unity and community engagement. One listener, Mr. Akurugu, said the event had been highly enjoyable and urged the station to continue its good work.

Radio Tamale is expected to continue its 10th anniversary celebrations with a series of activities, including an official launch on May 20, a media seminar on May 21, a health screening at the Lamashegu Chief Palace on May 23, a night of cultural display on May 27, Islamic prayers on May 29, fun games on May 30 and a dinner and awards night on May 31.

The anniversary programme is intended as a gesture of appreciation to listeners, partners and stakeholders who have supported the station over the years.
